Ceremony to be Held:

This month marks the 97th anniversary of Jack London’s death. On Saturday November 23, 2013, a ceremony will be held in the Jack London Historical Park, Sonoma, California at 10:30AM. There will be a walk to the grave site and some readings of his wife Charmian’s thoughts as well as a poem by his friend George Sterling, according to the local newspaper.
The historic park is actually London’s ranch, which he shared with Charmian. He called it his Beauty Ranch. It was a great symbol of his success as a writer and he felt deeply about the place.

London wrote about it:
“”The grapes on a score of rolling hills are red with autumn flame. Across Sonoma Mountain wisps of sea fog are stealing. The Afternoon sun smolders in the drowsy sky. I have everything to make me glad I am alive. I am filled with dreams and mysteries. I am all sun and air and sparkle. I am vitalized, organic.”
